Join the legendary comedy ensembles of the Charlotte Comedy Theater as they continue their 20-year history of amusing Charlotte audiences! Each Friday & Saturday night, a different and highly skilled ensemble takes the stage to create completely improvised comedy content based on the audience's suggestions. Stand-up shows are presented by Don Garret on the second Friday of every month starting February 2022. Sketch shows will be added to our show offerings sometime in 2022. All shows are $15 via Eventbrite or at the door via Venmo (payCCT). Reservations are highly suggested as seating is limited and we often sell out.
We accept donations and tips for cast members via Venmo at PayCCT.
Trigger warning - These are very polarized times, & we are improv comedians working off of audience suggestions, which means we have no idea what we or our audience might say. We believe that by laughing together at the world we live in, we can contribute to the healing of our community. We are not here to argue politics but to use humor as a salve for our collectively traumatized spirits. If you want or need a good, hearty, belly laugh, come on out, we got you!
CCT 's Location: We are in the CCT lecture hall is located on the main floor of The VAPA Center, 700 N. Tryon, enter the lobby and turn right. Reservations & Vac cards are checked at our box office. VAPA is handicapped accessible and our theater is next to the restrooms. Our building is key card accessed at night & the doors are monitored until 20 minutes past showtime. Your seat can not be held past that point.
What is The VAPA Center? - The Visual & Performing Arts Center of Charlotte, and the only one like it in the US, includes both performing and visual artists in the same building. CCT is a founding member of VAPA. There are over 120 artist studios in the center along with galleries, meeting spaces, workshops, & small theaters. The space was provided to local artists by Mecklenburg County, and VAPA is a non-profit entity. For more info on VAPA please visit: www.thevapacenter.com
Food/Beverage: VAPA has not gotten permitting for the sale of alcoholic beverages yet, but there is Pauline’s Tea bar in the lobby, and our guests are permitted to bring water bottles, covered beverage containers, and personal beverages/snacks if they so choose.
Parking - Parking is free right in front of the building with overflow parking across College street. Paid parking is available at Tryon & 9th. Please secure valuables as we are not responsible for loss, damage, or theft of personal property.
Security – The area of uptown that VAPA is in transition. We have had no issues with the homeless population that are our neighbors. We do however have a security guard during business hours, multiple building cameras, and a CMPD camera for added security
