Robin Williams

Come learn improv comedy from the theater that brought improv to Charlotte, 

directly from Chicago’s top stages. Your journey in reclaiming your playfulness and joy begins with level one, and you can continue until you are ready for the next stage in our multi-level class structure.


Level 1 - improv basics and philosophies, stage presence, overcoming stage fright, achieving the group mind, co-creating, beginning skills/games, and building trust in an ensemble. $280 for 6 weeks.


Level 2 intermediate/Games - Scene-work techniques, initiations, heightening, character work, and relationship building.  Intertwining scenes, callbacks, edits, and working more intuitively. (CCT level one required first and is sometimes combined with Level 1) Tuition is $280 with a $30 discount for returning students.


Advanced Improv- This class is a mixed-level class with advanced students and performers playing together, learning long form, and show prep with some Susan Messing exercises as a cherry on top. For level 3 and up students, it's $250, CCT performers; it's a standard coaching fee paid via Venmo the night of. In 6-week sessions taught

primarily by CCT's Tony Galardi.  (Level 1,2,3 required first) 


Students can make up any missed classes & get into shows for free. If you have any questions or want to pursue an internship by working box office to offset tuition, or want to do a payment plan, please contact  improvkeli@yahoo.com. Level 1 Improv – Kimberly Cope McCrary

Kim has been a student and performer of Improv for nearly 10 years. Throughout her professional career, she has instructed and presented on several topics in the academic, corporate, and non-profit arenas. Since completing improv training at the CCT Training Center she has performed short-form and long-form improv for weekend shows, corporate events, and comedy festivals. She is an original member of CCT’s all-female ensemble “That’s What She Said”.

Kim is a wife, mother, financial services professional, and community volunteer who credits improv with helping her navigate life’s uncertainties.

Level 2 Improv – Drea Leonetti

 For nearly two decades, Drea has been bringing laughs and creative energy to the stage with Charlotte Comedy Theater. As a performer, show host, and instructor, she thrives on sharing the joy and playfulness of improv with others. Her improv education spans countless classes with amazing teachers (too many to remember!), fueling her passion for comedy and connection.

When she's not on stage, she's crafting brands as a designer by day and being a devoted dog mom to her two furry companions. She loves to laugh, whip up a delicious meal when inspiration strikes, and soak up the sun at the beach. Life’s too short not to have a little fun, right?

Founder – Keli Semelsberger

Keli Semelsberger is the Owner of Charlotte Comedy Theater and a 29-year Chicago Improv Comedy Veteran. She is one of the co-founders of the VAPA Center, the author of “Improv Shaman – The Transformative Journey of Divine Play”, a tribe/team-building specialist, energy medicine practitioner, class V raft guide, and a veteran of the US Army. Her classes are legendary in their life-changing messages and inspired energy. Keli is currently focused on re-opening our sister theater, Big Island Comedy Theater, and works remotely.
